For pilgrims from Leicester and Leicestershire
Umrah Packages from Leicester
There is no direct flight from Leicester’s nearest airport to Saudi Arabia, so most pilgrims connect or travel to a bigger airport. Wherever you fly from, our team in Makkah arranges your hotels, transfers and ziyarat around your arrival.
Umrah from Leicester, Arranged in Saudi Arabia
Our team is based in Makkah, and we arrange the Saudi side of your Umrah: hotels in Makkah and Madinah, airport transfers, transport between the two holy cities, ziyarat and practical guidance.
Our packages cover your arrangements in Saudi Arabia: hotels, transport, ziyarat and guidance. Most UK pilgrims book their own flights, and we plan everything around their arrival and departure times. If you would like help with flight tickets, ask us on WhatsApp.
We don’t have an office in Leicester. Families from Highfields, Evington, Belgrave, Oadby, Loughborough and across the county plan with us directly over WhatsApp or by email.
Before you book, read how your arrival transfer from Jeddah Airport works and how the road journey between Makkah and Madinah is arranged, including an optional stop at the Miqat when heading back to Makkah.
Which Airport Should You Use from Leicester?
Leicester sits between several airports, and each comes with a trade-off between distance and flight options. Most pilgrims fly into Jeddah, the closest major airport to Makkah, while some begin their trip in Madinah.
| Airport | From Leicester | Flights to Saudi Arabia |
|---|---|---|
| East Midlands (EMA) | Closest, about 30 minutes by road; Skylink bus from the city centre | Connecting flights only |
| Birmingham (BHX) | Around an hour by road; by train with at least one change | Direct Saudia service suspended since July 2026, with no restart date scheduled; connecting flights |
| Manchester (MAN) | Around two hours by road | Direct flights to Jeddah |
| London Heathrow (LHR) | Around two hours by road | Direct flights to Jeddah |
- Check before you book: routes and schedules change, so check the current options when you book. If you choose Manchester, our Umrah packages from Manchester page covers terminals, drop-off and prayer rooms. The details on this page were checked in November 2026.
- Ihram on the plane: If you are travelling to Jeddah for Umrah, make sure you are in ihram before your flight crosses the miqat. The timing depends on your route, so check with your airline and ask a qualified scholar if you are unsure. Do not assume you can wait until landing in Jeddah. See our guide to Umrah rituals and duas for more on the miqat and ihram.
- Religious questions: our Umrah guide and Umrah rituals and duas cover the main rulings. Every pilgrim’s situation is different, so if your question is not answered there, message us on WhatsApp and we will reply. You can ask even if you are not booking any service with us, and we will help in the light of the Quran and Sunnah, following Hanafi fiqh.
A Connecting Flight or a Longer Drive?
For many Leicester families the real choice is this: a short trip to East Midlands and a change of plane, or a longer drive to Manchester or Heathrow for a direct flight. With elderly parents or young children, a direct flight can mean less walking between gates. For wheelchairs and help at the two Harams, see our guide to Umrah for elderly pilgrims. With a tight budget, a connection from East Midlands is often worth comparing.
Whichever you choose, a connection can change your landing time. Send us your final itinerary and we plan your airport transfer around the time you actually arrive. If a connection is delayed or you are moved to a later flight, message us on WhatsApp as soon as you know and we will rearrange your pickup.

City and County School Dates
Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council publish separate term dates, and academies may set their own. If your children attend schools on different calendars, check every school before choosing dates. Christmas, Easter and the half-terms book up early, especially near Ramadan.
Leicester City Council’s 2026–27 dates follow their own pattern: schools reopened on 24 August 2026, the Easter holidays run from 22 March to 2 April 2027, and the summer holiday begins on 12 July 2027. February half-term is 15 to 19 February 2027, during Ramadan, which is expected to begin around 8 February. With Eid al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia expected around 9 or 10 March, depending on the moon sighting, the Easter holidays begin less than two weeks after Eid. See Leicester City Council’s term dates.
See our seasonal Umrah packages.
Extended Families and Mosque Groups
Umrah from Leicester is often a family occasion, with relatives joining from Loughborough, Coventry or Birmingham. If your group books different flights or airports, we arrange a separate transfer for each arrival, then shared hotels, transport and ziyarat in one quote. See our group Umrah packages.
We also arrange Umrah for pilgrims from other UK cities, including Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford, London, Glasgow and Blackburn. For an overview, see our Umrah packages from the UK.
Visa Information
Before you book, check which visa route applies to you. Requirements depend on your nationality and where you live, and they can change, so always confirm the latest information through official Saudi sources before you travel. For more detail on the official routes, see our Umrah visa guide.
Many Leicester families travel with relatives who hold an Indian or another non-British passport. Their visa route can differ from a British passport holder’s, depending on their nationality and UK residence status, so check each traveller’s passport before you book flights. Whatever passport they hold, we can help with the visa and apply for it on their behalf. Every pilgrim aged one and over also needs a meningococcal ACWY (meningitis) vaccine at least 10 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia, so book it early with your GP practice, a pharmacy or a travel clinic. See the UK government’s pilgrimage advice.

Umrah from Leicester FAQs
Common questions from pilgrims travelling from Leicester.
Do you have an office in Leicester?
No. Our team is based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. We arrange everything with you directly by WhatsApp or email.
Do your Umrah packages include flights from Leicester?
Our packages cover your arrangements in Saudi Arabia: hotels, transport, ziyarat and guidance. Most UK pilgrims book their own flights, and we plan everything around their arrival and departure times. If you would like help with flight tickets, ask us on WhatsApp.
Is there a direct flight from Leicester to Jeddah?
Not from East Midlands. For a direct flight, pilgrims from Leicester usually travel to Manchester or Heathrow. Birmingham’s direct Saudia service has been suspended since July 2026, with no restart date scheduled, so check the current options when you book.
Do you arrange transport from Leicester to the airport?
No. Our services start in Saudi Arabia. You make your own way to your UK airport, and we take over from the moment you land.
Some of our family hold Indian passports. Can you help with their visas?
Yes. Whatever passport your relatives hold, we can help with their Umrah visas and apply for them on their behalf. When you enquire, tell us each traveller’s nationality and whether they live in the UK, as the route for an Indian passport can differ from a British one. Visa decisions are made by the Saudi authorities.
Some of our family are flying from Manchester and some from Heathrow. Can you combine us?
Yes. Send each flight’s details. We plan separate airport transfers, then one shared arrangement for hotels, transport and ziyarat.
Can I ask a religious question about Umrah without booking?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with your question, even if you do not need any of our services. Each person’s situation is different, so we reply to you individually, in the light of the Quran and Sunnah, following Hanafi fiqh. For the main steps, see our Umrah guide.
How will I receive my quote?
We normally send quotes via WhatsApp, or by email at makahmadina591@gmail.com if needed.
